This Is Every Dinosaur in the ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Trailer (And How Accurately They’re Portrayed!)

After four years, the long-awaited Jurassic World: Dominion is finally within sight. In just short of a month, the third installment of the Jurassic World trilogy will hit theaters. This film is bound to be one of the most memorable of the trilogy. For one, it is exploring how dinosaurs and humans can coexist on earth. Second, the original Jurassic Park trio—Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill—are set to reprise their roles for a Jurassic World: Dominion reunion. Not only that, but they’re getting equal screen time with lead stars, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The Jurassic World trilogy first kicked off in 2015 and revived the Jurassic Park franchise after 14-years. While the first two installments of Jurassic World received mixed reviews, they have garnered huge audiences. Jurassic World was the second highest grossing film of 2015, while Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom nabbed third place for the highest grossing film of 2018.

Okay, We Know the First ‘Jurassic Park’ Is the Best One, but What About the Rest?

Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park

Soon, the last entry in Jurassic Park’s second movie trilogy will be out in theaters. As fans get ready for Jurassic World: Dominion, let’s take a look at the film series and discuss which ones are the best and which ones are somewhere in a large pile of … you know where I’m going with this.

Simply the best: Jurassic Park

I don’t think anyone’s gonna argue with me on this one. It’s amazing that this film still feels as wondrous as it does all these years later. Even if I know what’s going to happen at every turn, Jurassic Park still manages to excite and even surprise me whenever I decide to watch it again. Like. I know the park is a terrible idea, but as soon as that music starts up I actually want to go inside and get up close and personal with dinosaurs. As our Rachel Leishman said, “It mastered the art of fear, adventure, and the horrors of men having too much power in a beautifully exciting way.”

Jurassic Park

To a dinosaur-loving 90s kid, Jurassic Park was the perfect mix of “wow cool” and “maybe I’ll sleep with the lights on tonight.” Based on the science fiction novel by Michael Crichton, the film series is now broken into two trilogies with the second trilogy set to come to an end with the upcoming release of Jurassic World: Dominion.

The movies are the perfect example of “maybe men should stop trying to play God” as someone (or several someones) continues to think it’s a good idea to mess around with DINOSAURS, of all things. This typically leads to a lot of deaths, a lot of action, and a whole lot of running. Here are all of the films, in order, to get us ready for the return of all of our faves from the original movie.

‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Is Exactly the Finale I Wanted out of This Trilogy

The crew is back in Jurassic World: Dominion and look scared

To start off, let me say this: I love the dinosaur movies, so Jurassic World: Dominion was right up my alley. Will everyone like it? No. Is it meant to make everyone like it? No! It’s a movie that preys on nostalgia like a velociraptor preys on white men with too much confidence. (Seriously, look at who they target throughout this franchise. Clever girls.) And yes, that’s a good thing. There are so many nods to the original Jurassic Park movie and so many moments that will have you going “Oh hey, I remember that” for no real reason other that to be nostalgic, and that’s fine! That’s what this entire trilogy is about.

Not to be that person but I did see a couple of first reactions talking about how this movie doesn’t pay off what the trilogy was leading up to. And, personally, I don’t get that reaction. The franchise promised a world with dinosaurs in it, and that’s pretty much what we got after Fallen Kingdom, and it just continued on in Dominion. What this franchise also promised was a world that upholds that original park to a higher standard and praises Dr. Ian Malcolm, Dr. Alan Grant, and Dr. Ellie Sattler, and that’s exactly what Jurassic World: Dominion does, and I love it for it.

The Best Thing About ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Is How It Uses the OG Cast

Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park: Dominion.

I absolutely loved Jurassic World: Dominion, and fully because I am but a humble servant to the dino franchise. But what I really loved about the final installment in the Jurassic World trilogy was how much it utilized the cast from Jurassic Park. When news broke that Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum would be returning as Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm (respectively), it became a simple question of how much of Alan, Ellie, and Ian would we actually get to see?

John Williams is probably one of the—if not the—greatest film score composers of all time. There are, and have been, many brilliant composers working in Hollywood, but John Williams was there for some truly genre-defining stories and helped make them even more unforgettable.

A New York City native and a graduate of Juilliard, with a career that spans over seven decades, he composed some of the most recognizable and memorable tunes in film history—many of which have become cultural staples.

How Can ‘Jurassic World’s Director Think ‘Jurassic Park’ Doesn’t Work as a Franchise?

Colin Trevorrow, director of things like The Book of Henry that was so bad it maybe lost him his Star Wars movie is now talking about how Jurassic Park should have just stayed a solo film. And that’s complicated to me. Because while the subsequent films do not hold a candle to the magic that Steven Spielberg bottled with the 1993 film Jurassic Park, there are good things to be found in all six of them. (Never forget Kelly Malcolm using gymnastics to take out a raptor.)

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Trevorrow said that the Spielberg classic probably should have stayed as a standalone film because it is ultimately “unfranchisable” and the reality is … that statement makes absolutely no sense. The film, which had three movies in the original trilogy and then spawned three Jurassic World movies (two of which were directed by Trevorrow), is a classic for a reason, but I wouldn’t call it unfranchisable.

Will ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Be the Last ‘Jurassic World’ Movie?

The crew is back in Jurassic World: Dominion and look scared

It has been about seven years since the Jurassic Park sequel, Jurassic World, premiered in theaters. The film served as a direct sequel to the Jurassic Park series, however, with a new set of characters. Jurassic World takes place 22-years after the events of Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar. The island has been transformed into a theme park, called Jurassic World, which features cloned dinosaurs. However, when the dinosaurs escape, they plunge the whole island into chaos and danger.

Jurassic World‘s release in 2015 marked the launch of the Jurassic World series. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howards headed the franchise, with their roles as Owen Grady and Grace Dearing, respectively. The two starred in Jurassic World and its sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. They will soon be reprising their roles for the third film in the series, Jurassic World: Dominion.

Can humans and dinosaurs actually co-exist together? We’re going to find out soon as Jurassic World: Dominion is just around the corner. The Jurassic World trilogy kicked off on June 12, 2015, reviving the Jurassic Park franchise. Jurassic Park had laid dormant for nearly 14 years before Jurassic World gave us a fresh cast and story. While it does boast a new cast, Jurassic World is a sequel to Jurassic Park, rather than a spin-off. This has filled the trilogy with plenty of nostalgia and allowed several Jurassic Park actors to reprise their roles.

The trilogy follows Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), who both started out as employees of the dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World. Grady was a trainer of Velociraptors, while Dearing was the park operations manager. Jurassic World saw the fulfillment of John Hammond’s dinosaur amusement park on Isla Nublar. However, when the dinosaurs escaped and started snacking on visitors, Grady and Dearing become an unlikely duo who fought for survival. When the dinosaurs themselves later become threatened in Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, Grady and Dearing had to fight for their own survival, as well as that of the dinosaurs.

The crew is back in Jurassic World: Dominion and look scared

The third and final film in the Jurassic World franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion, premiered in theaters on June 10, 2022. This highly anticipated film is the very first in the Jurassic Park franchise to explore the idea of humans and dinosaurs co-existing with one another. Not only that, but Jurassic World: Dominion will also see the original golden trio of Jurassic Park—Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Dr. Ian Malcom (Jeff Goldblum)—reunited. This will be the first time Neill and Dern have reprised their roles since Jurassic Park III, which was over 20 years ago.

Neill and Dern will have equal screen time with the Jurassic World franchise leaders, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The two first starred in Jurassic World in 2015 as Owen Grady (Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Howard) and both were employed within the dinosaur theme park. Since the dinosaurs got loose, the two have stuck together in a mission to survive, as well as to advocate for the lives of the dinosaurs that escaped. After all, the dinosaurs shouldn’t have to suffer because of humanity’s errors. In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, though, the dinosaurs’ home of Isla Nublar is destroyed. This leaves Grady and Dearing no other choice than to let the dinosaurs free among humanity.

Pyrorapter in Jurassic World Dominion

Jurassic World Dominion premiered on June 10, 2022, and marks the final film in the Jurassic World trilogy. The trilogy first began in 2015 and served as the long-awaited sequel to the Jurassic Park film series. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard have led the franchise, starring as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively. In Jurassic World Dominion, they are joined by the original Jurassic Park trio—Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum).

In Jurassic World, it almost seems as if John Hammond’s dream of a dinosaur theme park has come to fruition. However, of course, the vision is shattered as dinosaurs escape their enclosures and wreak havoc as they did in the previous Jurassic Park films. Grady and Howard survive and the dinosaurs remain on the abandoned Isla Nublar. In the sequel, Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom, the dinosaurs’ home of Isla Nublar is destroyed. Efforts to the move the dinosaurs to a different, secure location fail.

Most of the time, these tech bro companies launch their dumb little products and I scratch my head and wonder who in the hell would ever want what they’re peddling. (I am looking squarely at you Elon Musk, wanting to implant things in my head.) However, I am willing to make an exception for this startup that just unveiled a giant meatball that they’ve engineered from woolly mammoth DNA. Per Reuters:

The meatball was created by Australian cultured meat company Vow which – promising this was not an April Fools’ joke – said it wanted to get people talking about cultured meat, calling it a more sustainable alternative for real meat.

Crocodiles Just Casually Proved ‘Jurassic Park’ Right About One Thing

A female member of the American crocodile species that has been held captive in a Costa Rica zoo for 18 years without contact with any possible mates was recently discovered to have reproduced on her own. In nature, this is called facultative parthenogenesis or “virgin birth,” and as you might suspect, it’s not all that common in nature’s complex creatures. In fact, this is the first time a crocodile has been able to reproduce without mating, as far as recorded science knows.

Yes, crocodiles lay eggs, as opposed to live mammalian births, but this “girl boss” impregnated herself and laid an egg containing a fully formed fetus with DNA, all from the mother and all without a mate. That’s an impressive display of independence.

Ah, the ’90s. Don’t you miss it? Dope anime. Grunge. Cool gay movies. Dial-up internet. Heroin. Bill Clinton. Tony Hawk. Playstation One. Flip phones. Gushers. A fashion sense inspired by heroin. All in all, it was a pretty mixed bag. Don’t get me wrong, most of those things are dope. Except heroin. Don’t do heroin. The ’90s can also keep Bill Clinton. And dial-up. Honestly, just give me the Gushers. It’s not that I don’t like grunge records or whatever. I’d just rather have Gushers. Gushers are all hit and no miss.

Just like these movies.

A white woman rises up out of her seat in a jeep with a surprised look on her face in "Jurassic Park"

Remember where you were when you first watched Jurassic Park as a kid thirty (thirty!) years ago? I remember, and I remember my mind was utterly blown by ALL THOSE DINOSAURS roaming around that badly designed theme park. It was like truly watching pre-history come to life. And now I’m an adult and there are even more films to watch!

But because not all of them were released with a handy “II”, “III”, etc. to denote watch order, you might be a little confused when looking at the DVD shelf. Don’t worry, I’m going to list all six of them chronologically so you can get the most out of all the dino-chomping action.

Jeff Goldblum reclines shirtless in 'Jurassic Park'.

Jeff Goldblum is a magical man. My first experience with the bespectacled wonder, like many others, was in Jurassic Park. Ian Malcolm is one of my most beloved characters in all of cinema (and clearly I’m not alone). From then on, I’ve had this burning desire to see Goldblum in as many things as possible (whether he belongs there or not).

It seems like Wizards of the Coast heard my deranged calls and answered appropriately, as Goldblum is now coming to Magic the Gathering. As reported by Polygon, Goldblum is set to arrive in a new set of crossover cards called Universes Beyond and the Lost Caverns of Ixalan set on November 17. WotC first made this announcement at MagiCon Las Vegas.

10/10 Would Watch Emerald Fennell’s Pitch for ‘Jurassic Park’

Jurassic Park

Emerald Fennell loves to make us think with her movies, as warped as they may be, but her pitch for Jurassic Park may be her most twisted one yet. Well, twisted in that sick Fennell way that I just can’t get enough of.

Fennell has been promoting her latest film, Saltburn, which has audiences clutching their pearls and cursing their stars because of key scenes—mainly the bathtub scene—which is par for the course with Fennell’s work. It’s annoying, but her response to what she’d do with a classic piece of cinema really does have me wishing and hoping that someone would let her take on the reigns.

In a scene from Jurassic Park: Survival, a woman holds a flare in front of a roaring T-rex.

There were a lot of big announcements to come out of Thursday night’s Game Awards but for me personally, nothing was more exciting than seeing the trailer for Saber Interactive’s new game, Jurassic Park: Survival.

Saber Interactive has an extensive track record of well-received games based on existing franchises, including The Witcher, World War Z, and Evil Dead. Now they’re turning their sights on the Jurassic Park franchise and while I’m trying not to let my hopes soar too high, well, it’s hard after watching this announcement trailer:
